Richmondshire District Council exists to serve the needs of our
local residents and those working in or visiting our area.
Our vision is for Richmondshire to be a place where people will
want to live, work and visit; where people enjoy a high quality of
life and environment, feel safe, healthy and prosperous and have
the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Council offices are located in Richmond, with
Swale House being the headquarters and housing the Council
Chamber.
Other offices are Frenchgate House and Friars Wynd, although
these are not open to the public without prior appointment.

Offices at Richmond,
Colburn,
Leyburn,
Reeth,
Upper

Councillors
There are 34 ward members who are District Councillors for Richmondshire, many serving on
a variety of Committees, and representing the views of
residents.
Council Structure
The Council employs around 295 people and have a shared Senior
Management Team led by the Chief Executive and three
Deputies/Executive Directors. An Assistant Chief Executive
and six Assistant Directors also make up the Senior Management
Team, along with a further three Heads of Service they work across
both Hambleton and Richmondshire Councils.
Under a system of delegation, each Service Group is managed by
an Assistant Director responsible for delivering the services under
their control.
